Day 27: Make Your Goals Public
Submitted by tcblack on Mon, 01/26/2009 - 05:05
Monday Motivational: Since we're still at the beginning of the year, but now have slipped further away from that magical moment when we first made our resolutions, some of your resolve is starting to fade isn't it? Well it's time to make your goals public. Few things are more motivating than the risk of public humiliation. I've got this blog making my goals public. others have done the same thing.Let me give you a few goal making tips.
- Be Specific: There's no point in saying “I want to do better at handling my money.” So does Donald Trump. For you it might be far better to say, “I want to pay my Discover card balance dosn by $4000 by the end of the year.”
- Make it Measurable. Just like being specific you have to be able to measure your success. “Better” isn't measurable, $4000 is.
- Be realistic. It's not very likely that a 250 pound couch potato is going to run the Boston Marathon this year. Make an honest evaluation of your situation and set goals based upon what you can really do.
- Push yourself just a little farther. Don't make your goals so easy that you can accomplish them with your eyes closed. Improving your lot in life is going to take hard work, set your goals accordingly.
Now it's your turn: The comments are open, post your goals here if you don't have a blog. If you do have a blog, mention this post and post your goals there. Now Get Crackin!
