Day 13 Show No Mercy

Remember my question on day one?
“how far can you get if you aggressively and mercilessly plan to get out of debt within 960 days?” --Day 1: Why Am I Doing This?

Well it's time to be merciless. You've just started the work week again. It's Monday, everybody's favorite day to feel like not doing anything but having to do everything. Don't let the Monday blah's keep you from making progress today, it's time to really make an effort.

Pull out your budgeting worksheet that you've been working on. Look at the current outflow of money. Now select one item from that list that you might really love having but which in the grand scheme of things you do not NEED. Remember that needs are things like food, clothing and shelter. Everything else is a luxury.
Now that that luxury item and terminate it and take it's money to make part of your debt snowball.

Don't let sentimentality make you keep it. Show no mercy, slash the budget.

Day 11: Stay focused

It's Saturday morning and you're hitting the web to poke around a bit.

Day 10: It's cash or nothing

Hopefully by now you've built a budget. I have and it's stapled to my wall - no kidding. I don't want to forget it.

To help me meet my budget I have one simple rule: I pay cash or I don't buy.

There's no use belaboring the point. If you can't grasp this simple concept you'll be doomed to stay stuck to the credit cards forever.

Now that it's Friday, and more than likely it's payday for a majority of you, I want to challenge you to take this next step. Go back to your budget and figure out how much cash you can reasonably carry with you. Take $5 less
